Agriculture Ministry awards 9 people for exceptional achievements in Cooperative sector

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources of St Kitts congratulated the awardees who were recognised and awarded at the Department of Cooperatives Appreciation dinner at the CUNA Caribbean Conference Centre on Thursday, 29th June 2023.

The Ministry awarded nine individuals who received plaques for their outstanding achievements and dedication to the development of the Cooperative sector. The awardees were as follows:

1. Clifton Sweeney-Gideon Force Agricultural Cooperative Society Ltd
2. Sharonne Edgings St. Kitts Farmers Cooperative Society Ltd
3. Mr Kennedy Hazel St. Kitts Bee-Keepers Cooperative Society Ltd
4. Clayton Douglas Sandy Point Agricultural Cooperative Society Ltd
5. Derrick Huggins Liamigua Agricultural Cooperative Society Ltd
6. Earlston Warner Capisterre Fisherman’s Marketing and Supplies Cooperative Society Ltd
7. Claire Gilbert St. Kitts Taxi Cooperative Society Ltd
8. Roberta Rawlins St. Kitts Agro–Processors Cooperative Society Ltd
9. Andrea Maynard Junior Savers Cooperative (Newton Ground Primary School )

Also, a few special awards were given by the Ministry of Agriculture to the following:

1. Clyde Thompson, Former Registrar of Cooperatives
2. Kitts Nevis National Cooperative League Ltd Platinum Sponsor– SKNNCL Primary School Quiz

The dinner ceremony forms part of International Day of Cooperatives celebrations, observed annually on the first Saturday of July in St Kitts. Cooperative societies have always been at the forefront of playing their part in developing the nation. The cooperative societies in the federation are as follows:
